In 2009, Moscow tax collectors discovered 142 schemes with which employers were paying “grey salary” to theirs employees – informs the Federal Tax Service’s press office.

Thanks to all steps taken against unfair legalization of “shadow” salaries, the whole tendency has positive dynamics. “In 2009, 94.9% of all chosen taxpayers were forced to increase their legal salaries to industry’s average levels. In 2008 – only 88.8%”, - says the FTS’ message. The press office informed that the Federal Tax Service had chosen 16 thousand employees from various industries. They all had salaries below their industry’s average.

“A special attention was paid to taxpayers who operate in industries with the maximum level of tax risks, that is: wholesale and retail, building societies, companies having business with real estate in general, processing industries, production and selling of alcoholic beverages”, - says the press release.

The regulators’ work aimed at drawing “grey” salaries out of shadows was carried out as part of a bigger plan to meet target collection indicators for the unified social tax, insurance payments to the Pension Fund of Russia, and the personal income tax.
