The acting chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board has asked his staff to develop a proposal for Congress that would allow the private regulatory body to make its disciplinary hearings and related proceedings public - the board was created as part of the 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley Act to combat corporate accounting scandals in the wake of collapses at Enron and WorldCom.
