An International Financial Reporting Standards conference “Making the Transition to IFRS” was held in Moscow’s Le Royal Meridien National hotel, organized by IIR with Grant Thornton’s sponsorship and information support by GAAP-online.com, which attracted many world experts from leading auditing companies and not only - Deloitte (Mr. Kobus Moolman with a presentation on IFRS 6 “Exploration for and Evaluation of Mineral Resources” and Marco Koschier on IFRS in the EU”), Andrew Watchman about IASB, Alexander Ivanov on valuation and IFRS 3, BDO (Vitaly Sheremet and Ian Christie (BDO Stoy Hayward) – “IFRS for financial reporting in IPOs”), Standard & Poor’s (Svetlana Borodina), Sistema (Larisa Gorbatova, “Business Acquisitions and Sales”), Russian Institute of Internal Auditors (Alexei Sonin), members of the National Organization for Financial Accounting and Reporting (NOFA) – Oleg Askeri, Mikhail Orlov, Askold Birin and Mikhail Kiselev - Boris Kolmakov, Association of Regional Banks of Russia, spoke about banking accountancy in Russian Federation (RF), use of fair value, claims by the Central Bank, transformation of Russian accounting records, subprime mortgage markets and other issues.
